Meeting Santa

Eric has been loving Santa this year, well, at least loving the idea of Santa.  We took him to see the Santa at Thanksgiving Point one night.  After a long wait in line of Eric asking where Santa was and trying to cut in line to sit in Santas lap it was finally our turn.

Santa asked for a high five which Eric was happy to give.  Then it came time to sit on his lap......

....... and the poor kid froze.  I felt so bad.  Between the flashes from the cameras and finally meeting someone so hyped up, I'm not sure Eric even remembered who he was.  It reminded me of the Santa scene from A Christmas Story (football, what's a football?)  However, after a candy cane from Mrs. Claus he was back to his bubbly self.  In fact, he has loved telling us about sitting on Santas lap and asking for a train for Christmas.

Then on Christmas Eve, Santa surprised the kids and showed up at my brothers house while we were eating breakfast.  It was such a fun treat for all the kids to get more time with Santa somewhere familiar.  Eric waited somewhat patiently for his turn to sit on Santas lap and get an early present to open.

And he did much better this time.  He still wouldn't give a big smile or talk to Santa, but he was a little more aware of what was going on.
