Yellowstone Day 3

I'll admit, Saturday was probably the worst day on our trip.  It snowed the night before.... a lot.  On our way into Old Faithful, we kept getting stuck in buffalo jams.  The ground was so covered in snow and it was so cold, all the buffalo were making their way back to the geyser valleys and they did not want to trudge through the snow so they used the cleared roads.  It took us over two hours to get to Old Faithful.  All the animals seemed hunkered down that day too.  We didn't see anything.  Oh well, some days just go like that.

 An osprey

In front of Old Faithful.  It was so cold all you could see was the steam when it erupted.

On our way back to West, I begged the caravan to stop if there were any buffalo close enough to let Eric really get a look at them again.  Through Madison valley, we found this herd right next to a parking lot.  They had lots of little babies with them, so even though it was raining, we toughed it through and let Eric look at these cool animals again.

If you look closely, you can see his tongue sticking out.  So cute.

Wild what the difference of three weeks can make! The calves are all growing up already. Still playful. The weather was hot for us. And your dad got a great picture of an osprey soaring above us (same one?). Sorry the weather was so miserable, but glad you got a chance to make sweet memories, even if they were dripping wet! Love all the photos. Great job!
