"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace." - Milan Kundera
We've all known this day was coming. Brian's brothers dog, Hunter has been growing old.
He reached his limit last night. He was in too much pain to justify being selfish and keeping him here any longer.
Hunter was a good family dog, who loved nothing more than to be around his people.
He was the guard dog, dutifully protecting the home.
He was an outdoors dog, enjoying camping and laying outside while yardwork was done.
He was an adventerous dog, escaping with his cohort Radar and terrorizing the neighborhood.
Hunter was a good dog. What better complement to characterize man's best friend.
We will truly miss him.

I've never had a dog but I have learnt through my friends how special a part of the family they can become. We are thinking about getting a dog while the kids are young. Reading a post like this makes me realise how much fun they can bring to a family.
I didn't know. I'm sorry. It's hard to say goodbye to pet friends. This is a sweet tribute, Tonya. I know you and Brian really will miss him. So will Kota.
I am sorry. We had two retrievers back home, too, and it was the saddest thing when they were gone with their old age. I think they will always have a special spot in my heart.
